MoRhythm-Africa: Practice African Drumming on Your Smartphone or Tablet
MoRhythm-Africa is a mobile app designed to help beginners practice African drumming on their smartphones or tablets. Developed by world-renowned percussionist Monette Marino, this app provides a platform for users to practice individual drum parts while listening to the other instruments of the djembe orchestra.
With MoRhythm-Africa, users can select the rhythm they want to practice and choose the instruments they want to accompany their drumming. The app allows users to adjust the tempo and provides a djembe signal at the start of each rhythm to help users stay in sync.
While the app only contains audio, there are 50 videos available as in-app purchases for those who want to see the movement and hand positions on the drums. These videos provide visual guidance to enhance the learning experience.
The app offers beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels of rhythms. The beginner level includes 10 African rhythms such as Balakulandjan, Djole, and Kuku. Additional rhythms can be purchased as in-app purchases to further expand the learning experience.
